Ignorance is Bliss

Ignorance- sounds like a flaw, yet sometimes it becomes a quiet kind of wisdom. That's how came the famous phrase- 'Ignorance is bliss'. If we come to think of it, bliss is a strong word to be attached to a word such as ignorance. But, if we start observing our day to day lives, we may experience it very closely and may consciously adopt it as a rule even.

Everyday, we come across a variety of people, incidents, circumstances, and situations that make us feel frustrated or agitated at most. It takes a whole lot of wisdom, thought and experience to understand that sometimes, things are not under our control and that letting go or ignoring them is just the right solution. Yes! You read that right.

Art of Ignorance

For starters, you may be into a workplace where you are surrounded by people of all sorts. If you are not the boss, you are simply in zero control of each one of their behaviours. You can not command or dictate the way you want them to behave around you. You can either simply communicate your thoughts, stay away, or simply ignore! And you will see, how much lighter you will feel.

Apparently, sometimes, you can feel out of place in your own family too. Especially, if you are a teenager! You are just learning your way through life. Just like your family maybe ignoring hundreds of your traits to maintain the calm, you may have to do the same thing at most times.

The biggest challenge we experience with people is when we choose our second family while chosing a life partner. I think majority of you would agree to this. We not only choose, but we adjust our way through into the new family. Sometimes, if we are lucky enough, we may get a family that truly loves and understands us, but mostly, we have to carve our way through.

Entering into a new family gives you several occassions to feel confused, messy, irritated, anxious, disappointed and angry. After some tussle, you may feel that ignoring some things can make room for some positive thoughts towards the others. If you need peace and calm, you need to be trained into this art of ignorance. Rather, focus on things that make you feel good about others. One act of negativity should be dealt with one act of good behaviour from the others and you will see after some time, that you may be filled with positive things to think about and not a single negative thought would stay.

Ignorance becomes bliss when it protects your peace--not when it hides what needs to be addressed. Speak up when it matters the most, set boundaries where it is necessary and let the rest pass without renting space in your mind. Ignorance will then, surely be bliss, because sometimes, unnecessary knowledge & attention can lead to piling up of trash that is anyway required to be cleaned up at the end. Therefore, learn to ignore!
